Dedication

I am dedicating my book to Ryan Turner my cousin who was and is going to go back to Afganistan. He is a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He is really nice and is a good person. He truly is a hero.

Synopsis

This book is about America. I enjoyed making this book and it took a lot of time to make it. It has lots of states of America. It also has some other things about America such as the ARMY and history. You can also find pictures of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. I hope you all like my book. Enjoy!

America

     America is the country I was born in.  Presently, America is the most powerful country in the world.  We have four military sections; they are Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines and the Coast Guard.  The Marines are part of the Navy.
Alabama

  Alabama is a southern state whose nickname is the “Heart of Dixie.”  Alabama’s state flower is the Camellia and its capitol is Montgomery.  The battle of Mobile Bay which took place during the Civil War happened  in Alabama.
Capitols

There are four states with president names as their capitol.  Washington D.C., our nation’s capitol is named after a president. A capitol is the center of a state or country.
Delaware

Delaware was one of the thirteen colonies that declared independence from Great Britain.  They wanted to get away from England a.k.a. Great Britain. Delaware’s state capitol is Dover.
Eagle

  The Eagle is the national bird of the U.S.A.  Only the Bald and Golden Eagle are in the U.S. The great seal of the United States has a Bald Eagle on it.
Florida

  Florida is known for its oranges. Florida has a professional hockey team known as the Florida panthers.  Its nickname is the Sunshine State.  Ponce de Leon a Spanish explorer/conquistador found the peninsula of Florida.
Georgia

  Georgia is known for its peaches.  It was the last of the Thirteen Colonies to be established.  It’s named after King George II of England.  It’s in the Appalachian Mountain System.
History

  History is the story of what happened in the world.  I really enjoy the history of the Revolutionary War.  The war was against the army of King George III of Great Britain.  The colonist wanted Great Britain to lower their taxes.  The colonist rebelled by having the Boston Tea Party were they threw the tea from three ships into Boston Harbor.
Indiana

  Indiana’s state tree is a tulip tree. Indiana’s state bird is a cardinal.  My cousin Tyler lives in Indiana.
  New Jersey

  New Jersey state color is buff and blue. The state tree is a red oak. The capital is Trenton.   Its nickname is the Garden State and its motto is “liberty and prosperity.”
Kansas

  Kansas’ state animal is an American buffalo. The state flower is a sunflower.  Its nickname is the Wheat State. Its capitol is Topeka and it’s largest city is Wichita.
Louisiana

  Louisiana's state tree is a bald cypress.  Its nickname is “the pelican state.” Union, Justice and confidence” is there motto.  It’s capitol is Baton Rouge.  Its largest city is New Orleans.
Maryland

  Maryland is right to the east of West Virginia. Its nickname is “the free state.” Its capitol is Annapolis and its largest city is Baltimore.  The Baltimore Orioles are my favorite football team.
North Carolina

  North Carolina is where I was born.  The town was called Hickory.  Its nickname is the Tar Heel state.  “First in flight” is their motto.
Ohio

  Ohio’s state capitol is The Buckeye State. Ohio’s state motto is With God all things are possible. I have a lot of family in Ohio. I have been to Cedar Point in Sandusky.
Pennsylvania

  Pennsylvania’s nickname is the Keystone state. Pennsylvania’s state motto is Virtue, Liberty and Independence. The state capitol is in Harrisburg.
Queens, New York

  It’s in the state of New York and the city is New York City.  Queen’s total population is 2,306,712.  That is a lot of people.  There are many gangs there.  Frank Costello was a well known gangster in the 1930’s through 1973.
ARMY

  They are war machines. You must be 18 to be in the ARMY. The ARMY is what protects America and keeps it a free country.
States

States are how America is divided. America is separated into 50 states to make up the United States of America. I live in the state of West Virginia and the county of Preston. However, I was born in North Carolina.
Tennessee

  Tennessee is where some of my family live. Tennessee’s state nickname is The Volunteer State. Its state motto is Agriculture and Commerce. The state capitol is Nashville.
Utah

  Utah is a western state. Salt Lake City is Utah’s state capitol.  The nickname is the Bee Hive State and the motto is Industry.  Anasazi and Fremont Indians were the original two tribes that lived in Utah.
Virginia

  Virginia’s state animal is a fox hound. The state nickname is Old Dominion state and its capitol is Richmond.
West Virginia

  West Virginia is my home state. It is where I live. The state capitol is Charleston. The state nickname is Mountain State and our state bird is a cardinal.
Texas

  Texas’ nickname is the lone star state. The state motto is “friendship.” The state capitol is Austin. Texas still has its old western time customs.
New York

  New York is a northeast state. The state nickname is The Empire State. The state motto is Excelsior.  Its capitol is Albany.
